OVERVIEW
RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
The Private School Universe Survey (PSS) is a biannual survey completed by private school administrators. The survey asks questions about the religious orientation, level, size, length of the school year, length of the school day, enrollment (K-12), number of high school graduates, number of teachers, and program emphasis of the school. Data is then aggregated and published in tables by urbanicity, program emphasis, grade, state, etc. Data at the school-level can also be found and downloaded in an Excel format via the "Search for Private Schools tool." For the purposes of this survey, a private school is any school that provides classroom instruction for grades K-12 or undergraduate students and is not supported primarily by public funds.
