OVERVIEW

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

Presidential Disaster Declarations define the counties or entire states which have been sufficiently impacted by an event to be considered eligible for aid. The disaster declarations also specify the types of aid available to those areas. Preliminary damage assessment (PDA) data is collected on the scene to help determine whether an area will receive a disaster declaration due to an event. Many factors are considered in the declaration approval process, including concentration and level of damages, trauma, special populations, lack of available voluntary agency assistance, lack of insurance, and recent multiple disasters. The disaster declarations are searchable by state/tribal government, disaster type, and declaration type.
