OVERVIEW

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

NIS-Flu is a combination of responses from multiple flu vaccination questionnaires updated at the end of every flu season. These responses provide information on influenza vaccination coverage across the US for children (6 months - 12 years) and teens (13 - 17 years). This data can be browsed geospatially online via FluVaxView and the user can filter the data by different criteria, including age, and race and ethnicity. NIS-Flu is maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a way to monitor influenza vaccination coverage rates for children (6 months - 12 years) and teens (13 - 17 years) throughout each season and to determine which states have relatively low vaccination coverage among those age groups. The NIS-Flu data presented on FluVaxView includes percent vaccination coverage by month, as well as the lower limit, upper limit, confidence internval, and sample size associated with each value. All data can be viewed at the national, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) region, and by state (including the District of Columbia). NIS-Flu merges influenza coverage responses from NIS-Child, NIS-Teen, and NIS-CIM.
