OVERVIEW
RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
NextFlu provides genetic data and visualizations that can be used by subject matter experts to determine which seasonal influenza strains are high priority candidates for the current year's vaccine stockpile. It is designed to track seasonal influenza virus evolution in near real-time. Scientific information available from NextFlu includes a tree of the most recent influenza strains, mutation frequencies, genotypes, and tree clades. This information can be viewed for all geographic regions or for a particular region of interest. NextFlu data sources include the EpiFlu database of influenza virus sequences, World Health Organization (WHO) National Influenza Centres, and WHO Coordinating Centres. Additionally, NextFlu has been used to track the evolution of Ebolavirus and MERS-CoV.
