OVERVIEW

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

Grants.gov provides a common website for federal agencies to post discretionary funding opportunities and for grantees to find and apply to them. Federal agencies use Grants.gov as a potential source of data to determine the number and magnitude of grants applicants receive. Grants.gov grants tend to be focused on longer term funding, rather than on immediate disaster assistance and recovery funding assistance. During an event, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may use Grants.gov data in conjunction with data from other grant websites to determine what recovery and mitigation grant opportunities are available for disaster survivors and their communities. Grants.gov grants can be browsed by agency, grant name, grant category (e.g., education, community development, business and commerce), or grant recipient eligibility (e.g., individuals, small businesses, or county governments). Information provided about each grant includes description, eligibility requirements, application closing date, estimated total funding, and grantor contact name. Grants.gov is managed by the Division of Grants within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources (ASFR).
