OVERVIEW
RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
FluSight provides predictions of the percent of outpatient visits that will be accounted for by influenza-like illness (ILI) in the US in the next four weeks. It is a collection of forecasts created by external researchers and coordinated and hosted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While FluSight predictions are not endorsed or generated by the CDC, they are currently one of the few publicly available sources of predictive influenza activity forecasts. Additionally, FluSight provides longer-term forecasts that estimate which week of the year will be the onset of influenza season. The peak influenza season week and peak value of ILI-related outpatient visits are also predicted. The FluSight forecasts are based on CDC data contained in the ILINet database. FluSight data can be viewed at the national level or at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) region level.
