OVERVIEW

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

EPANET is used to model flow through water distribution piping systems. Pipe networks consist of pipes, nodes (junctions), pumps, valves, and storage tanks or reservoirs. During a simulation period, EPANET tracks the flow of water in each pipe, the pressure at each node, the height of the water in each tank, and the chemical concentration throughout the network. It also displays water age, source, and tracing. An extension is available to model multiple interacting contamination species (EPANET-MSX). Additionally, EPANET will serve as the foundation for the Water Security Toolkit, a new water contamination resource from the Environmental Protection Agency.
